Law & Commerce Program for Asian Professionals (LCPAP)

I. Introduction to TLBU Graduate School of Law

TLBU was created in 2001 with a mission to educate young elites from various Asian countries so that they can contribute to the development of their own countries after graduation. Since the opening of the school, we have successfully produced more than 700 Masters and PhD graduates who are actively working in various areas worldwide.

II. Course overview

Law & Commerce Program for Asian Professionals (LCPAP) is a short-term non-degree program designed to educate students who want to experience studies in Korea. This program takes more practical approaches to trade-related issues so that students may be able to apply the ideas and methods to the practical problems they will face once they return to their own countries

Having successfully educated many Asian students for more than 20 years, our highly experienced teaching staff and non-teaching will provide high quality education on-site or online to the successfully admitted students as well as practical information and assistance so that the students can live and study comfortably without much problems during their stays in Korea. The students who have successfully completed their courses and wishes to advance to TLBU’s degree courses will have advantages in consideration of admission for Master’s or PhD courses and will be given scholarship for further study.

In addition, the students will have the chance to learn Korean language through intensive Korean language classes.

1. Duration of Course and schedule

The course consists of 600 hours of classes for 30 weeks. There will be a short break between the semesters. Classes are taught from Mondays to Fridays.

2. Evaluation and Completion of Course.

The There will be at least one evaluation each semester and those who attended 80% and acquire 80% of scores will be awarded the Certificate of Completion at the end of the course.

3. Tutoring

The students will be assigned a tutor who will guide the students on a regular basis throughout the course and provide assistance on academic study for students to successfully complete their study.

4. Course Subjects

The classes are taught both in English and Korean. To help the students understand better during the classes, experienced interpret or helper will be on site ready to help the students and provides additional explanation if necessary.

The students will have the opportunities to meet and talk with special guests who will share practical and expert knowledges with students on specific issues related to commerce and trade.

Students will also have the opportunities to visit government offices and companies and acquire practical information from their personnel each semester during the field studies.

5. Mentoring system

Student will be assigned a mentor who will provide useful information not just on academic life at TLBU but also practical and personal issues that students find difficult to share with teaching staff.

6. Extra-curricular activities

TLBU encourage students to organize themselves extra-curricular activists. Our Teaching and non-teaching staff will provide necessary assistance or organize special activities so that students have fun and enjoy the life in Korea on and off campus.

7. Student Care

TLBU staff will take care of the students around the clock for safety and health of the students and comfortable life on campus.

III. Admissions

1. Qualification

(1) Applicants for LCPAP program must be graduates with Bachelor degrees and either currently enrolled students in academic degree Course or working in an academic institutions.

(2) The applicants who have degrees in the field of law and business studies and/or those working in academic fields or legal practitioners will be given the priorities in the consideration of admissions.

2. Documents to be submitted for Application

(1) Letter of Recommendation

Arrange for the timely submission of one letter of recommendation from a professor under whom you have studied. If you have been out of school for some time you may submit letters from employers or associates.

(2) Certificates of Diploma

Certificates of Degree must be both from the college the applicants have received BA degrees or equivalent qualification and form the currently enrolled institutions)

(3) Official Transcripts

Official transcripts must be both from the schools the applicants graduated from and schools currently attending.

 

(4) 3 Passport-sized photos

Photos should be in colour and passport-sized (3.5cm X 4.5cm) taken within the last 6 months.

(5) Certificate of Employment

Applicants working in academic institutions must also submit their certificates of employment.

(6) Additional Documents to be submitted for the successfully admitted students
- Copy of Passport containing the pages with personal details and visa
- Tuberculosis Test Certificate

3. Application Deadline

All the applications must arrive before due date, the notice for which is made locally through our contacts or Alumni association. The applicant must submit his/her application along with his/her Letter of Recommendation and a copy of Official English proficiency scores .

Please note that the Admission Office of TLBU Graduate School of Law in Seoul does not review applications until we have received all required documentation. We suggest that applicants submit their application as early as possible.

4. Interviews with Applicants

After review of application documents, applicants will have interviews with our school representatives face-to-face or online. TLBU Academic Affairs Office will notify all the applicants of exact date for the interviews in due course. After application, please regularly check your email specified in your application form.

IV. Visa Applications

     In accordance with the immigration law in Korea, all students must obtain student visa(D-2-8). The student visa should be acquired at the Korean embassy/consulate in home country before the entry into Korea. A number of documents are required for the visa application, and some of them may take long time to be issued. Therefore, the students are recommended to prepare the required documents well in advance to get the visa on time. It is the responsibility of students to obtain required visa before the beginning of the course.
     Being a International Education Quality Assuarance System(IEQAS) certified university by Korean Ministry of Education, TLBU Graduate School of Law will provide necessary assistance so that admitted students successfully receive theirs visas in time for academic schedule.
